One Lane Closures on Route 50 Near Route 15 Gilbert's Corner Roundabout Scheduled for September 20

September 19, 2023

Per Loudoun County news release by Heidi Kellum:

On Wednesday, September 20, one lane road closures are scheduled on eastbound Route 50 near the Route 15 roundabout from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. The closure allows for tree clearing in preparation for the construction of the Aldie Fire and Rescue Station, in Aldie. If weather delays occur, work will take place during each successive workday until it is completed.

Drivers should use extra caution, follow directions from road signs and crews, and slow down when traveling through these areas.
The new 23,000 square-foot station will be constructed in Aldie, Va. to replace the existing building, providing an updated and accessible facility for the Aldie Volunteer Fire Department. Features of the new facility will include apparatus bays, bunkroom facilities, a training room, a break room, restrooms and showers, food preparation and dining areas, laundry and decontamination areas, supply storage, a gear and hose drying area, a breathing apparatus air compressor room, a fitness room, offices and a repair shop.

In addition to the new facility, site improvements for this project include two entrances off Route 50, access and parking areas, a well and septic field, lighting, landscaping, and a storm water management pond.

The existing Aldie Fire and Rescue Station will remain operational throughout the duration of construction. Construction is expected to be completed in winter (January, February, March) 2025.
